Dear Doug,
Wow. This report is terrific. It is very practical, full of links to resources, and truly answered out three big questions. I’m very encouraged about the small things we can do immediately, and now we have the information we need to think about the longer term as well. Thank you so very much.

I think your process is great. Your pre-visit assessment helped me clarify what I wanted to know, so that when your report came back, you were able to answer my questions directly. The color coding on the spreadsheet makes it easy to see and understand the trouble areas. And your summary report helped make sense of the spreadsheet so it wasn’t overwhelming. Your expertise, attention to detail and care are stellar.

Dear Doug - Thanks for your recent aging in place assessment of our home. We appreciated your professionalism and the fact that you went just deep enough into the most important issues without getting us too lost in the details. We thought you asked all the right questions and we found your recommendations very helpful. It was gratifying to learn that, for the most part, our home is already pretty well set up for us to age in place, and we are pleased to have a much clearer understanding of the few small modifications that need to be made.

“From day one of our plea for help in making our home as functional and lovely in our future as it is now, you have listened, and answered with compassion and thoroughness. Not only were you on time for our visit, you followed through with answers, additional information and photos of potential solutions in a timely manner. Your systematic list served as a relief to our anxieties about aging in place in a home where we hope to stay. “

They have installed a RING doorbell system, and some better lighting which they use Alexa to activate. He has also had his stone / paver steps removed from the sidewalk (now graded) at his back door so he can use his “rollover” walker, which he is now routinely using. No steps to the back yard!”

You did a very thorough job, provided useful hints on what to do. We are planning to follow through on some projects within the next year, and have already done some!
— Bill

Helped us to be aware of things we never would have thought of, helped us to prioritize – which things most important, and where to spend money.

Some of the concerns about our property were obvious to us, such as how our front steps may someday be challenging. However, many other assessment items were novel and specific. Taken together, their on-site evaluation and subsequent report have been informative, and will likely drive adoption of selected suggestions.

You gave me information I didn’t really have. Good insight into areas of possible problems. Especially regarding lighting. And impressed that you had your “lumen meter” - quantified measure of how much light present, and needed.
— Susan

Was a very positive experience. Very helpful. Gave us concrete steps to consider to make our house safer!
— Beth

Thank you for your prompt response and very comprehensive report. I wish I had known about your service prior to obtaining any quotes.

Going through the process raises your awareness about risks that you don’t even think about. It’s almost a boiled frog scenario. As we age in place, we don’t notice how we’re changing relative to our environment. Having a Doug Zabor come in with fresh eyes brings one’s perception into the present so you can be wise about the future.
